- Mandolas come in two main types
- The Tenor Mandola tuned liked a viola to CGDA a fifth below it's younger brother, the mandolin. There are 4 pairs of strings
- The octave mandola are tuned an octave below the mandolin to GDAE - it has heavier strings than the bouzouki but a shorter neck making it easier to finger
